Program Selection
Program selection should be a bottom-up versus a top-down decision. A program alliance is more likely to succeed when it is faculty driven. Five criteria should guide the selection of a program for inter-institutional collaboration:
- Demand: should be large and/or pressing
- Capacity: the partner institutions could not offer the program alone
- Faculty: a strong desire to participant in the program must be present
- Department: the academic unit must be willing to experiment in the development of an atypical program
- Wisdom: based upon years of academic experience, is it sensible to select the program
